The Capital Grille

633 N St. Clair St
(between Ontario St & Erie St)
Near North Side, River East

Wood paneling? Check. Dark lighting? Check. Stuffed game heads staring blankly upon you as you eat what could have been their friend? Um, check.

The Capital Grille successfully combines the trappings of its steakhouse chain DNA (quality service, tasty cocktails, a creative menu) with some of the features you’d expect out of the “classic” Chicago joints, specifically incredible cuts of beef (like the Bone-in Kona Sirloin)
perfectly coupled with delicious wines and martinis served in an interesting atmosphere (see above). And while the snooty members of your bachelor party may look down their noses at eating at a chain in this fair city, you can be fairly certain they will be singing a different tune when their Main Course comes.

Venue Tip:

If you are going for a Private Room (and you should) ask for The State Room (seats up to 16 rowdy people) over the smaller Board Room.

The Good:
The Capital Grille has several signature steak dishes that will impress. Moreover, they do seafood well too so the annoying pescatarian in your group can finally shut up.
The Bad:
They pack them in tight here so you may find yourself pressed up against some loud, drunk dudes (oh wait, that’s your bachelor party).
