Jean Lafitte was the hero of the Battle of New Orleans (it happened, and it doesn’t refer to the time your punched the police horse in the face). You, too, can be a hero by taking the bachelor party to Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop Bar, one of Esquire's Best Bars in America.  It’s supposedly the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States, which makes drinking here pretty much the most patriotic thing you’ll ever do.

And if you’re trying to convince a gal nearby of your gentlemanly ways, take her here as it’s quite the romantic spot given the candles (and no actual lights), piano music, and pirate ghosts. Chicks love pirate ghosts.

Venue Tip:

Request a corny song for the Bachelor to sing along with the piano player.  Billy Joel’s Piano Man is a little too overdone, so perhaps Sweet Caroline.

The Good:
Total dive that you can only find in NOLA with no freaking lights and a homey atmosphere.
The Bad:
Drinks are like $7 so you’re not as far from the City as you thought.
