If you’re looking to play some sports, have some pops, and be in one place for an extended series of activities, Chelsea Piers is the spot. Year-round, you can hit golf balls at the range, bowl, smack baseballs at the cages, rock climb, ice skate, play soccer or basketball, and more! Plus they have 7 different restaurants/bars, so you can literally stay here all day. There’s even occasionally reasonable talent there to invite out for later. Your only really full sports alternative is Central Park which definitely does not work well in colder months.

Venue Tip:

Play 18 holes of virtual golf (hitting into a simulator screen) on one of over 50 courses while they deliver you pitcher after pitcher of local beer from the Chelsea Brewing Company.

The Good:
All the activities and sports you can think of, combined with a brewing house, food, and good views.
The Bad:
Semi out of the way on the water but it’s NYC so a couple cabs aren’t going to hurt you too much. Or go old-school with the 23rd Street bus.
