The Standard mixes in a little bit of everything required for a bachelor party soiree: a chic lounge, swanky hotel, hot club, bar, and restaurant. The food is good, the bar is cool, but your bachelor party is mainly traveling to this destination for the outdoor beer garden (biergarten). Long German style tables, great tap beers plus a full bar, brat/pretzel type snacks, and even a couple pong tables-- a dream come true for the inner German you’ve repressed for so long. The Standard Beer Garden is in a hip neighborhood with lots of action, and generally draws a fun, outgoing crowd who mingle effortlessly. Be prepared to see attractive 20-something blonds mixing with Brooklyn hipsters with surprising ease. The best part is that the restroom is co-ed and patrons share a mirror/sink area where we’ve seen more flirting than is probably kosher in a bathroom. Then again, nothing starts a conversation faster than asking a nearby female if she’ll hold your brat while you wash your hands.

Venue Tip:

The Biergarten gets packed quickly, especially on Friday night so either get there early or plan a day time visit. If you can figure out a way into the club upstairs (the Boom Boom Room), God bless. It’s just usually impossible unless you’re staying there.

The Good:
Outdoor seating, pong tables, German snacks, huge beers, and plenty of options for further entertainment that does not require Lederhosen in the surrounding area.
The Bad:
There’s an $8 cover most times, and it can get cold. Also expect the standard Meat Packing d-bags. To be clear, the d-bags found in this area of town aren't necessarily male.
