This steakhouse, eponymously named for Wolfgang Zwiener, is often called the best steakhouse in New York. Though this accolade is generally offered in hushed voices so as not to offend Mr. Peter Luger, who sits in Brooklyn, steaming that his former head waiter (for over 40 years!), Wolfgang, is flourishing on his own. Of course there are three Wolfgang’s in the city, but this one provides the best proximity to post-meal entertainment. Wolfgang’s knows steaks as well as anyone in the world, and steak science is lifted to an art here. Take that, Luger!

Venue Tip:

Stop by here with your bachelor party for a pre-activity lunch. The burgers are made from steak. Unreal.

The Good:
Wolfgang was formerly the head waiter at Peter Luger so he gets steak like no other (well, other than Peter Luger himself). The good news is that Wolfgang’s accepts credit cards, unlike some others.
The Bad:
Do you really want to go to a clone of Peter Luger - the Manhattan version - or would you rather take your pals to the original? Just sayin’.

Price: $$$$

Signature dish: The Porterhouse for two will make you swear by Wolfgang’s and come back every time you’re in New York.

Attire: Slacks and a collar shirt are de rigueur here. Not to fret, you can tell chicks at the bar after you just came from a “power dinner.” Though, there will be some wearing jeans as well.

Vibe: Old-time steakhouse setting, but loud, boisterous, and a great time all around.

What’s next?: The Cigar Inn on 2nd Avenue, Whiskey Blue at the W, Nikki Beach Midtown or you can egg Bernie Madoff’s place right down the block.
