Louis is a good alternative to Mansion (if you can’t get in there; though don’t try to walk as they’re a mile apart), or if you’re looking for a more intimate venue.  But far from merely handling overflow, Louis has a lot to offer on its own.  Despite its smallish size, the club has two full bars and usually boasts a good amount of eye candy.  We were thrown off by the Versailles-themed decor and costumes on some of the employees (it evoked unfortunate flashbacks to the Tommy Lee Jones/Kevin Bacon dinner party in JFK), but the ladies sure didn’t seem to mind.  Nice to be in a Miami bar where powdered noses didn’t (only) indicate any illicit activity.

Venue Tip:

Check the website before going; oftentimes a text message can get you guestlist or VIP hookups, which helps at a place this small/popular: http://www.louismiami.com/#events

The Good:
Smaller than some of its neighbors, Louis is a good option if you want to not only drink in a fun club, but also hang out with the boys (and not lose the man of the weekend) while still having beautiful South Beach babies bopping around.
The Bad:
Like so many of the more happening Miami nightspots, negotiating the velvet rope without a reservation can be a pain. Hands down the easiest way to ensure entry is to stay at the adjacent Perry South Beach hotel (formerly known as the Gansevoort South).
