If you want the bachelor party to be more of a classy affair rather than a hell-raising riot you might want to check out MercBar. It’s a little more sedate with low lighting, lounge-like seating, great music and grown-up drinks like martinis at $12 a pop. If it puts you in a New York state of mind that‘s because it was designed by Greg Wheeler, who also designed the bar’s other location in Manhattan. When the party is a floating one for the Bachelor and his Rat Pack, this is a great place to stop in for a drink and to absorb some of the vibe before moving on to other restaurants, bars, taverns and clubs that are located nearby. MercBar is probably not the best choice for eats as the menu is limited and it’s mostly froufrou food like fruit, cheese and crackers. It is definitely a trendy bar for hipsters, but it remains a very cool place to have a cocktail.

Venue Tip:

Depending on how big the bachelor party is going to be, and if you plan to make a night of it in one spot, you might want to inquire about MercBar’s room for private parties. Same cool atmosphere, drinks and service but with more space to get a little rowdy – you just might want to find some friends to accompany you.

The Good:
The dark interior with lots of leather and wood has a very masculine feel that’s perfect for a bachelor party and the cocktail menu seems endless. The staff will be glad to go through and explain the many signature drinks.
The Bad:
MercBar is sort of hidden away in a complex that’s more of an office building so if your guests don’t know exactly where they are going, they might not find it.
