Medjool - CLOSED

2522 Mission St
San Francisco
(415) 550-9055
The Mission district has seen its ups-and-downs over the decades (Medjool would never have survived on this block in the 80’s), but it’s still one of the best concentrations of bars in the city. Medjool straddles the line between club (there’s a DJ and massive dance floor) and lounge (the whole front area is an open-format bar area). And while there is the occasional line and/or nominal cover, you shouldn’t hesitate to stroll in off the street. One quirk is that it has a traveler’s hostel occupying the same building, so don’t be surprised if you see some lost-looking Nordic dudes wondering why their hostel pub has a DJ and multi-level dancefloor. The upshot is, of course, that there may be some equally lost-looking foreign females looking for, er, guidance.
Venue Tip:

We recommend El Farolito (2779 Mission St.) or Taqueria Can-cun (2288 Mission St) for post-bar greasy deliciousness.

The Good:
For the one week out of the year when temperatures remain in the 70’s into the evenings, there is no better place in the Mission to drink/dance/scope than on Medjool’s huge roof deck– with a city view to boot.
The Bad:
This is San Francisco, so there really IS only one week out of the year when temperatures remain in the 70’s into the evenings. But there’s always the downstairs dance floor.
