Chateau Marmont

Chateau Marmont

8221 Sunset Blvd.
(323) 656-1010
The Chateau Marmont is not a place for business travelers looking to catch some winks after poring over spreadsheets. Instead, it’s closer to a giant nightclub with beds, set in French decor, and a cooler-than-thou attitude reserved for Los Angeles’ hottest Hollywood types. The result is that locals flock here on weekends to soak up rays, sip cocktails, and have an excuse to use one of the beds upstairs. If you can figure out a good alibi for your girlfriend - and if you book far enough in advance - don’t miss a trip here.

Venue Tip:

Keep on the lookout for celebrity sightings. A lot of them actually live at the Chateau.

The Good:
On weekends the scene heats up and the top of the city’s B-list (still pretty good) come from all over town to sit by the pool, sip cocktails, and show off their tans (which are real, not spray-on)... a testament to Chateau Marmont’s place atop the LA hot spot pyramid.
The Bad:
A bit pricey for what you get: smallish, sparsely decorated rooms that look like a New York City apartment circa the same era in which the hotel was built.

Good place to party? Exceptional. World renowned, even. So good, John Belushi died of a drug overdose here.

Good place to drink at night? A staple of the LA night life scene. You will not be disappointed by the buzz on a Saturday night at The Chateau.

Lively daytime pool scene? Unrivaled. The Eagles’ “Hotel California” is thought to have been written about this joint.
